How Long Does a Software Project Take?

Timelines depend on scope and decision speed. These are the ranges we use when a founder asks “how long until something useful is live?”

Focused first projects

Most focused first projects ship in four to eight weeks. That usually means one workflow or product slice with clear acceptance criteria and weekly check-ins.

Custom software and platforms

Custom software builds run two to four months. Platform builds with multiple workflows or compliance requirements run three to six months. Discovery is one to two weeks and produces written artifacts you own regardless of whether you continue with us.

What slows projects down

Unclear owners, delayed access to systems, and mid-build scope expansion. We lock exclusions and change orders so timelines stay honest.

Common follow-ups

How long does a typical project take?

Discovery is one to two weeks and produces written artifacts you own regardless of whether you continue with us.

Can you ship faster than four weeks?

Sometimes, for a very narrow slice with ready access and a decisive owner. We will say when a shorter timeline is realistic and when it would cut quality or safety.

Do you work remotely across the U.S.?

Yes. Most work is remote with regular video and Slack cadence. On-site visits are available in metros where we have people when the work calls for it.
